MOVE Project

The purpose of the Mission Operations Voice Enhancement (MOVE) Project is to replace existing mission voice system with Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products suitable to meet the mission voice conferencing and voice recording requirements at NASA Centers and locations.

The goal of the MOVE Project is to standardize the mission voice systems throughout NASA in support of current and future missions. The system will have a robust architecture managing voice conferencing to provide improved mission support. Mission voice systems will meet the high availability and expectations required for mission critical infrastructure. New voice systems will have a built-in expansion capability sufficient to support the expected increase in required voice services for not less than 10 years of continued mission operations. Each Center's voice system will be controlled and configured locally. Interfaces will be standards-based, leveraging the advantages of future technology while providing for transition from today's legacy systems in a manner that minimizes impact to system users. Though switch capabilities will be site-specific (size, functions, end instrument interfaces), the system backbone will be common at each location. State-of-the-art end instruments will be compatible with any MOVE voice switch.
