Custom Video Services
Custom telecommunication and networking services are specifically designed
and engineered to meet unique NASA programmatic requirements. Each program
determines the unique attributes of the data distribution services in such
terms as security, availability, redundancy, and features that provide the
optimum trade-off between cost and program success. Custom Services may be
used both for space flight mission critical applications and for general administrative
support requirements possessing unique attributes. Service performance parameters,
including pricing, shall be negotiated on a case-by-case basis for each individual
custom service. Caution: the customer shall be made aware that attaining end-to-end
service restoral times similar to those associated with Real-time Critical
Internet Protocol (RCIP) and Mission Critical Internet Protocol (MCIP) routed
data services may entail specifying diversely routed circuitry within the backbone
portion of the service and shall require ordering diversely routed circuitry
for any associated tail circuits. International data distribution services
are provided to many of NASA's International Partners and agencies through
cooperative arrangements. Rather than purchase dedicated circuits for each
requirement, cooperative consolidation and integration of various requirements
into an economical infrastructure is used wherever feasible to provide basic
connectivity supporting programmatic requirements for the transport of data,
voice, fax, electronic mail, and video. To the greatest extent feasible and
economical, these gateway and consolidated circuits are used to support all
other data distribution services unless otherwise specified.
